Revival Rug Reveal and Review!

When you live in an apartment, covering the floors is probably top of your to-do list.  If you’re like me, you’ve got some pretty dated carpeting in an uninteresting beige color (at best!).  Thankfully at least some of our apartment has wood floors, but all of the bedrooms got the good ole’ rental carpet treatment.

As soon as we moved in the goal was to get them covered!  Enter countless hours of internet searching for the perfect area rug.  Naturally, right away when folks see our home they notice our hot pink couch.  This bold piece really drives the aesthetic of our living room!  I absolutely adore the color of this couch and feel like I got so lucky that I was in the market for a couch and this one was available at Ikea. (Hello, budget option in a custom color look!)

When searching for a rug that would work with the existing couch, I knew it would be awesome if we could pull some jewel tones into the mix.  Revival rugs offered a rug to me in their vintage or new collection and I went searching for the perfect rug.

I eventually landed on the Sezin, a beautiful rug with magenta, lavender, rust red, periwinkle blue, and sea foam green.  I knew this rug would work perfectly with the pink couch and would bring the bright, colorful tones we love to have in our home.  This rug was described as a one-of-a-kind vintage rug made from goat hair and wool embroidery.

By the way, I love this section on the website where they describe the curator’s notes and tell you a little bit about where the rug is from.  These descriptions really endeared me to several of the rugs!

I would describe my interior design style as colorful, airy, modern, boho designs.  I love the way this vintage rug really makes the rest of my pieces seem more timeless. Interestingly, I’ve never decorated with brown before, so I was a little nervous when I was making the final decision between my favorite rugs on the site. Could I pull off brown in a way that wouldn’t feel too retro for my existing style?!

The rug came quickly in a cardboard box with the handle.  The Revival site recommends hanging onto the box for easy transport when you want to move the rug.  Um, now I totally wish all rugs came in small boxes! This is such an awesome idea! No more trying to angle the rug out of a back window of your car to try and get it somewhere (that can’t just be me, right?!). This also makes switching out rugs a breeze.  The ability to fold it up and slide it under a bed, into a closet, or into a storage space makes having multiple rugs so much easier.

I am so happy with this rug. I feel like I would have never been brave enough to choose this style without Revival.  The colors work perfectly in our room.

Some notes about my experience:

• Their website has super accurate photographs of the rugs. I found my rug to be exactly true to color.  It also showed the slightly uneven nature of the edges which is excellent when buying a rug online! (Note, my pictures aren’t exactly the same colors because they were taken on different days and our natural light varies greatly, but you can trust the website’s picture of the rug.)
• They offer design services to help you narrow down your search and choose the right rug for you! This is such a fun, personal touch that I loved.
• This rug is not particularly soft. I wouldn’t recommend it in a space where you like to lounge on the floor if the feel of the fibers is going to bother you. It’s definitely soft enough for feet and for sitting!
• Also, it’s ability to fold up, also means that it doesn’t have a ton of structure. They recommend a rug pad underneath it, and it might move on it’s own on a hardwood floor without some kind of grip under it.
